All Nations Cup Pattaya
All Nations Cup.
We were hosting the All Nations Cup in Pattaya a few weeks ago, this was three golf associations from different nationalities playing the best courses here in Pattaya, then onto Bangkok for the last two rounds.
Since the LPGA was being played at the Siam Country Club (Old Course) during the same week they were here, the group played Siam Country Club (Plantation Course) and then onto Laem Chabang International Country Club.
Both courses conditioning was immaculate and the speed of the greens were 9 to 9.5 which offered a good test of golf. I am constantly amazed about the quality of Thailand Golf courses. Each day you could show up and play a major international event on these courses. Some courses throughout the world close the course 1 month prior to get the course ready but the courses this group played, Thai Country Club, Suwan Country Club and the two mentioned above could host any event with a days notice.
During my day at Suwan Country Club, I drove around and looked at the attention to detail that the top courses go through to maintain a golf course in tip top condition. The palm trees were trimmed to stop the dead leaves falling on the ground, the bunkers were raked to perfection, (I’d say the caddies have a large role to play in this), the fairways have been cross hatch cut to give a great optical effect when you stand on every tee.
With so many top golf courses in Thailand that need to be played, I would suggest if you are coming over here to play, try and play the best ones in the area, if you are on a budget, play one or two rounds of golf less but don’t settle for second best, I’m sure you can play average golf courses in your home country.
